Performing music in Ghana is a 'thankless' career - M3nsa

M3nsa observed that Ghanaians frequently have transient feelings for musicians, eagerly supporting them one minute and leaving them the next.

In an interview with 3FM Drive on Wednesday, June 26, he shared his personal experiences, describing the difficulties he encountered while crowdfunding his BONDZIE album.

He claimed that even his own family members, who were aware of his music profession, were hesitant to support his crowdfunding campaign.

"These events have prompted M3nsa to conclude that pursuing a music career in Ghana is a 'thankless' endeavor."Yes, it is a thankless profession.

Some family members even pushed me to sell them on the notion. I don't need to sell the notion to you; you know what I do, but you know we took on the task, and some people came through, making up for all of the setbacks and difficulties," he said.

M3nsa claimed that even MUSIGA, a nonprofit that is intended to encourage musicians in Ghana, did not assist him when he required cash for a project.

M3nsa reported that, despite going through the correct means, MUSIGA only contacted him after he had completed the project, providing support too late to be of any use.

"We went there for funding and they told us to write a letter after we went through the process and we got a response after the film has been launched," he informed me.
