Create at least 5-minutes breast cancer awareness jingle to be aired on media platform-PK Breast Cancer Foundation CEO

Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of PK Breast Cancer Foundation Ms. Afia Konadu Adofo has decried the less attention given to cancer awareness in the country and therefore urging the government to create a 5-minute jingle to be aired on all media platforms every time as a show of government's commitment towards addressing same.

According to Ms. Afia Konadu, the move will help intensify awareness of the disease to save the lives of many women, men, and children who suffer from the same.

According to her, it is a known fact that many dies as a result of no or less knowledge of the disease therefore proffer a measure that cancer jingles be made in bits and pieces to be aired on every media platform as part of corporate social responsibility.

Ms. Afia Konadu could not understand why a diseasethat is claiming the lives of many in the country, is only receiving lip service from the government and other stakeholders. "Census, over the years has shown that women are in the majority and quite the same way are dying from cancer out of ignorance, something we can easily address", she lamented.

She disclosed that more than ten thousand women die from breast cancer every year yet families will not disclose it due to stigmatization. The situation, she said is alarming therefore calling for a pragmatic approach to eradicate the canker.

"We are saying Ghana is our motherland yet women are dying in their numbers and we do not seem to care about what is killing them?". Ms. Konadu observed in an exclusive interview with Soireenews.com at the Spintex branch of the Transformation Power Chapel as part of activities to mark the sixth year of the PK Breast Cancer Campaign and the tenth anniversary of the Transformation Power Chapel(TPC).

The duo held a breast cancer screening for women and men but it appeared numbers attended to were all women. For some beneficiaries, the exercise was helpful and wished it was repeated regular as it alerted them on how to examine their breast.

Ms. Konadu intimated that the initiative which was aimed at giving their quota back to society had attended to many so far. She said for the past years, her attention was turned to the folks in the rural settlers. "I am always excited attending to cancer patients in every form; be it educating them or breast screening", she noted.

She noted that she is upbeat when chiefs and traditional leaders get involved and show interest in ensuring that their people got screened. She said an alarming study conducted has shown that many women risk losing their lives due to the prevalence of cancer.

She said the situation is scaring and breeding panic among women. "What the government can do to help women is just awareness through just a five-minutes awareness-creating message to save many", she appealed.
