GTA, Partners marks 2024 National Chocolate Day at the Centre of the World

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, George Nkrumah Ansere, Director, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), observed that time has come for the country take advantage of the Greenwich meridian position in Tema coupled with the cocoa both of which could be largely found in Tema.

The 2024 edition of the National Chocolate Day celebrations has seen a boost as organizers chose to mark in grand style at the Greenwich meridian in Tema.

The novelty historic event which came off today was interspersed with chocolate distribution to all participants.

Every participant at the historic event had a reason to be thankful for Ghana's premium cocoa.

The event was made to re-orient the Ghanaian mind to change the narrative about Valentine's Day- a day that used to be seen as a sex event.

 Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, George Nkrumah Ansere, Director, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), observed that the time has come for the country to take advantage of the Greenwich meridian position in Tema coupled with the cocoa both of which could be largely found in Tema.

According to him, the equator is a unique point for tourist attraction adding that it could serve as a potential revenue generation avenue. Ghana, being a country with the equator passing through means that greater things must be derived from it.

He further said that the tourism potential has now been identified as a result of critical thinking. He was responding to a question as to why the country did not see that long ago.

On his part, John Aseeph, the Executive President, of GPHA Tourist Club, the future promises to be great regarding tourism with the discovery and unique potential of the center of the world concept. 

He disclosed that his outfit will make it a point to drive traffic for major tourist benefits to the country. Yohane E A. Ashitey, the Tema Metropolitan Mayor, said his decision to take a bite of the chocolate at the very historic point of the country was for the country's tourist benefits.

He was upbeat that the singular act would draw the needed tourism to Ghana.
