Election 2024: South Tongu Poised To Secure 95% Of Votes For NDC- PC, Kwame Lukutor Declares
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) South Tongu Parliamentary Candidate in the Volta Region,Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has indicated his readiness and commitment to work closely with the constituency executives and grassroot members of the NDC to secure 95% of votes for the party in the 2024 general elections.

Mr Lukutor expressed his determination to work hard to achieve a strong victory for the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Against this background,Mr Lukutor called on eligible voters in his constituency  to vote massively for the flag bearer of the NDC in the 2024 presidential election and him as the party’s parliamentary candidate to help restore good governance and development to the people.

He said not only would former President John Mahama, who is the NDC’s 2024 flag bearer need their votes but also their prayers to re-emerge as President of Ghana.
“I have said that former President Mahama is coming back to the throne with two important insights and one important hindsight. He has been President and he is being outside as non-President and he will combine the two to change the destiny of this country,” he stated, adding that “I am highly optimistic that he would change the country for good.
Mr Lukutor gave the assurance when he led
a mega 24-hour economy sensitisation walk which was organized in his constituency on Saturday June 29, 2024 to highlight the significance of the policy.
The walk is to sensitise South Tongu's residents
of the NDC's flagship 24-hour economy campaign policy by the flagbearer of the party, former President John Dramani Mahama.
The health walk brought together regional
and constituency executives, party faithful, sympathizers, and friends of Mahama including Member of Parliament (MP) for Anlo, Honourable Richard Sefe, MP for Central Tongue, Honourable Gabby Hotorwodze, the NDC PC for Sege Mr Daniel Bessey, Baba Sadiq, NDC PC for Okaikoi, S.M. Eworyi, former DCE-for South Tongu, Stephen Fenuku (Parliamentary Aspirant), Chairman Michael Tsikudo (Constituency Chairman).
They walked from Adutor through the principal streets of the town, filled with drumming, dancing, and singing party songs in anticipation of victory in the upcoming elections.
The South Tongu Health Walk will be replicated across the entire constituency to bring party members together before the 2024 general election.
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews. com, Mr Lukutor emphasised the importance of the 24-hour economy policy, saying it would revolutionise the system and create more job opportunities, particularly for the youth.
According to him, the walk was to explain the proposed 24-hour Economy policy and also to emphasize to the residents that it will help to address Ghana’s unemployment challenges.
"We have done this walk to preach a good news to the people that the main 2024 manifesto of the NDC was out and that all our political activities are gearing towards the NDC's flagship 24-hour economy policy.
"So our walk was also aimed at energizing
and keeping our people fit for the 2024
general elections. We have also used the walk to explain the NDC's flagship 24-hour economy policy in our basic language to the residents so that they would understand how they would also feel the policy in the coming year 2015 when it started to be implemented by the next NDC administration. Because we are winning the national election," he further assured.
He indicated that they have chosen the South Tongu as a venue for this mega 24-hour economy sensitisation walk "because if you look at voting margin statistics in the last national election, South Tongu constituency in the Volta Region was a third largest populated constituency."
"However we are expecting to harness more
votes for the NDC from South Tongu in the upcoming 2024 general elections. That is why we have organized the walk in conjunction with Volta Regional and national executives of the NDC and that that was the reason they are also here in their numbers to participate actively in the walk," he added.
He pointed out that the last Saturday walk is one of the series of walks "we have planned to embark on, adding that this is the first in the series of five scheduled by the constituency."
On the votes margin target for South Tongu constituency in the 2024 polls, Mr  Lukutor reassured that "we have a registered voting population of almost 70,000 and that we are expecting to attain 95 per cent of votes for the party in the 2024 general election.
Additionally, he maintained that;"We will also ensure that we go out to the electoral areas within the constituency to bring out many eligible voters in the voting day to vote massively for the NDC in order to achieve "our  target of getting 95 percent votes for the NDC in the South Tongu," he reaffirmed.
He explained that the party decides to use the walk and other political events to explain the policy in the context that would be understood and appreciated by the good people of the South Tongu constituency.
He also assured the residents of a renewed hope in the NDC and its commitment in providing decent jobs for the youth, under the next John Mahama Presidency, through the 24-hour economy policy.
He said, under the leadership of the former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC is committed to the vision of the 24-hour economy, which proposition is driven by the pressing need to address unemployment challenges across various sectors of the economy.
According to South Tongu NDC PC, NDC believes that transitioning to a 24-hour economy would unlock immense opportunities for businesses and individuals, and emphasised that anyone against the policy was an enemy of economic liberation and did not have the interest of the youth at heart, since the policy is here to provide jobs.
He noted that the policy would enable workers to earn additional salaries by taking up additional jobs through the 24-hour shift system.
He noted that the initiative would not only provide employment for the youth, but contribute significantly to the economic growth of the region.
He indicated that once in government, the NDC would be committed to supporting both private and public institutions in the implementation of the 24-hour economy initiative, in the form of policy frameworks, tax incentives and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
He revealed that the government, under John Dramani Mahama, shall also provide maximum security to ensure the success of the policy, through a partnership between the
He said former President John Mahama was advocating  the policy because it represented a superior alternative to what the government was doing.
“Creating jobs for the youth in the constituency is one of my priorities, therefore, we should all contribute collectively to bring former President John Mahama back to power so that together, we can create jobs in the country” he said.
He said that the NDC flag bearer’s achievements during his tenure in office and his continuing efforts towards the development of the country demonstrated Mr Mahama’s commitment to progress.
He, therefore, urged the people of South Tongu to entrust their believe in the former President by massively casting their votes for the NDC on December 7 this year.
On vision, the NDC PC assured the constituents of massive developmental projects focusing on agriculture when voted into Parliament in the 2024 general election.
He said it had always been his desire to represent the people in Parliament in order to accelerate the development of the area and turn the economic conditions around for the better.
Mr Lukutor stressed that  he would lobby for the construction of more feeder roads and the upgrading of dilapidated town roads to open the municipality for investment and tourism.
He won the primary after three failed attempts, securing 597 votes to beat incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Kobena Mensah Woyome, who polled 562 votes.
Mr Lukutor, a surveyor, said he would champion the extension of electricity and potable water to communities that lacked them and create job opportunities for the teaming unemployed youth and women in the area.
He appealed to all constituents to vote massively for him and former President Dramani Mahama in the general election “so that together we can build a better South Tongu.”
