The Minority in Parliament walked out on consideration of the eighth report of the appointments committee.

According to them, the Chairman of the committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu has demonstrated an act of bad faith when he decided to go ahead to vet some four nominees whose nomination as deputy Ministers of the Minority was contending.

The minority says the vetting was done at their blindside on a day the Speaker had directed all Members of the house to visit their constituencies to partake in the green Ghana agenda.

The nominees are Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Lariba Zuewira Abudu, a Deputy Minister-Designate for Gender, Children, and Social Protection.

The two others are Amidu Issahaku Chinnia and Diana Asonaba Dapaah who have been nominated as Deputy Ministers-Designate for Sanitation and Water Resources and Office of the Attorney-General and Justice respectively.

Deputy Minority Leader, James Avedzi Klutse advanced the argument on behalf of the minority after which they walked out.

“We from the minority side will not be part of this debate because the chairman has not been fair to us whiles we were in our constituencies partaking in the green project,” he explained.

“The Honourable Speaker was organizing a meeting with the nominees been vetted rather Mr Speaker, we the minority are not part of this,” he stressed.
