Nana Adwoa Awindor has explained how she had to 'mellow' her brand so her daughter could rise to fame.

The television presenter and mother of artiste Efya, stated that she could not be engaging in an unhealthy competition with her daughter in the media space for popularity so she had to bring down her own presence so she could focus on helping her daughter get to her peak.

According to her, only after helping her daughter breakthrough did she go back to her own craft.

She noted that Efya started to display her God-given musical abilities from a very tender age and it was clear that she needed attention and care to mature her talents.

The host of the first Ghanaian international link television show ‘Greetings from Abroad’ show expressed her belief in making such sacrifices, especially if one is in a home filled with celebrities.

“In a house of celebrities, what you do is that you come down for the celebrity to grow. You don’t make it look like you are in competition. The moment Efya started, I mellowed the Nana Adwoa Awindor brand so she can come up and it was intentional. Until she got to her peak, then, I started working again.”

“At age two, she was singing ‘happy birthday for us. We would give her the Karaoke microphone and she would sing for us. She was good from birth. She was gifted. She didn’t learn how to sing” she said while speaking to Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series.

She further advised youths to go for what they would love to do as adults in the future.

Explaining the dangers of not loving ones work, she noted that most people are miserable as adults because they did not go for what they wanted.

“If you love what you do, you do not see it as work but as a part of your life.”

“People think we have no problem preparing for Greetings From Abroad because I am always smiling. We have problems with staff, location, and equipment but because I have the passion for the work, it cancels out the disadvantages and negatives, and gives you an edge in what you do.”

“Never enter into any business you don’t want to be in. Don’t let anyone force you into a trade you don’t love,” she explained.
