Akufo-Addo In Fresh Trouble As Volta Chiefs To Lead Demo Against Death Trap Roads!
A planned massive demonstration by the chiefs, youth and residents of Mafi-Dove, Devime, Aklamador, Atitekpo and Dokpo in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region, will soon hit the Akufo-Addo administration.

Also, to join Mafi-Dove demonstration are chiefs and residents of Battor, Aveyime and Mepe in the North Tongu District, Soireeenews.com was informed.

This intended demonstration, Soireenews.com gathered, was in respect of the deplorable state of roads within the district which have become death traps.

The chiefs and residents complained bitterly about the deplorable state of the Battor, Aveyime roads linking the Afelekpo-Agbekporkope-Atitekpo to Mafi Dove in the Central Tongu District as well as Sege to Battor-Aveyime-Mepe roads.
According to the traditional rulers within the district, their roads have become 'death traps,' waiting to prey on innocent commuters and drivers who ply on them.
“Our roads are now deathtraps because you cannot call them potholes,” some of the residents bemoaned.
Although governments have, over the years, promised to reconstruct the roads, that was yet to come to fruition.
The road from Sege Battor-Aveyime to Mepe and Battor, Aveyime and the ones linking Afelekpo-Agbekporkope-Atitekpo to Mafi Dove Sogakope junction were now riddled with gaping potholes, and drivers were fed up as these roads were getting more dangerous by the day.
The Aveyime Battor and Asutuare town roads are also death traps and unmotorable for the residents, especially those from the river banks.
"One of the main roads in the North Tongu District, the Aveyime Bator town road, which connects to Aveyime and other municipalities in the district, is in a very dire state after contractors left the site when the general election was over,” the residents complained.
In an interview with Soireenews.com, the traditional officer holders, drivers and commuters expressed their disappointment at the current nature of these roads
“These roads are very bad and we are suffering on them because they [the authorities] are not maintaining them,” they complained.
For the road from Mepe through Mafi Devime to Mafi-Dove-Sogakope junction, the residents cannot fathom why the road constructed few years ago has started deteriorating.
According to the residents, the deplorable nature of the roads was posing grave danger to residents living in these farming and fishing areas.
The residents accused the contractors -First Sky Company and KADACON Company - ofdoing a shoddy work on the road.
They complained bitterly that the roads there have badly deteriorated.
A resident, Tsatsu Fiasi, who spoke with DAILY Analyst pointed out that several appeals to the government through the Central Tongu District Assembly to work on the roads within the Mafi-Dove and Devime townships have proved futile.
According to him, the attention of the government was also drawn to the poorly built culverts and bridges which could easily be washed away by a heavy rainstorm but nothing has been done about it.
On the issue of the Sege-Battor-Mepe road, the residents mentioned that they have complained severally but all to no avail.
