It has emerged government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has finally agreed to pay 15 percent of Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) to striking teachers to go back to the classrooms to teach the pupils of the public basic schools.
The payment of the Cost of Living Allowance takes effect  from July 1, 2022, according to the agreement document signed by the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of Employment, Labour Relationship, Mr Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, General Secretary for Trade Union Congress of Organised Labour, Dr.Anthony Yaw Baah which is in possession of Soireenews com.
Four teacher unions have since last week Tuesday embarked on a strike action to press on government to pay 20% of their salary as their Cost of Living Allowance(COLA).
The executives of the four teacher unions namely; Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) have served notice that they will come out to address its members on the next step they will be taking.
All public Service Workers are part of the Cost of Living Allowance. The four teacher unions have also called off the strike.
The General Secretary of the TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah has therefore called on the striking workers to called off the strike.
