Appiah Isaac of Yaaktom D/A  JHS Wins Best ICT Teacher  For Dormaa West District 

The Teacher of the Yaaktom District Assembly (D/A) Junior High School (JHS) of the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region, Mr. Appiah  Isaac of Yaaktom has been adjudged winner of the best ICT teacher in the final Competition of Girls in ICT program of Dormaa West District held in Sunyani on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The Teacher of the Yaaktom District Assembly (D/A) Junior High School (JHS) of the Dormaa West District in the Bono Region, Mr. Appiah 
Isaac of Yaaktom has been adjudged winner of the best ICT teacher in the final Competition of Girls in ICT program of Dormaa West District held in Sunyani on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

For his prize, Mr. Yaaktom was given a laptop with a bag, amidst the jubilation galore of the students and teachers in the school.
 
He was the best out of hundred teachers. This was disclosed at a ceremony of the Girls in ICT program of Dormaa West District held in Sunyani on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The Dormaa West Education Directorate was represented by thirteen girls who had qualified from the district level. 
Out of the thirteen girls, six won awards. Each of the six awardees was given one brand new HP laptop and a bag. 
Schools that participated from the Dormaa West District included Yaakrom D/A JHD 2, Yaakrom Presby 1, Nkrankwanta SDA 3, Apiakrom D/A, Krakrom R/C 1, Nkrankwanta D/A  2, and Abusua pe ade 1.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong joined his colleague Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in Sunyani during the final Competition of Girls in ICT.

In her speech, Mrs. Bernice Oteng Mbroh, the Girls Officer at the Dormaa West District Education office thanked the DCE for his support. 
In an interview with some female students of participatory schools, they pointed out that
"The National Girls-in-ICT initiative has been a major platform that has brought change to our lives. For the past two weeks, have been taken through intensive training in Coding which involves Scratch, and HTML among others."

According to them, the program has created an opportunity for many who have not had such. 
They expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Communications and Digitisation and the government for the life-changing opportunity.
"We wish to state here and now that, we have been well motivated to take up studies in STEM. We have also accepted the challenge to take over the male dominance in the ICT sector in the not too distant future," they noted.
For his part, Mr. Oppong thanked the government for ensuring that female children of his district are not left out of the plethora of future opportunities that access to technology brings.
According to him, the girls in the ICT program are all about breaking the myth around women involving themselves in ICT.
He said for the world to reap the full benefit of Information Communication Technology, it must be made available to people everywhere.
He was hopeful that girls will find it necessary to acquire new skills in technological communication to be able to compete favorably with their male counterparts.
The DCE went on to encourage the girls to appreciate ICT and assured them that the government will come back later to organize more such programs to educate and train the girls and other interested students.
