The Ga Ashalaja Oshipi, Joshua Lartey's murder case which is being tried in Court has taken a new twist as the Akwanor Royal family raised serious questions at the unfortunate turn of events.
Joshua Lartey was killed in cold blood near Amasaman in the Greater Accra on March 6, 2022.
Five suspects; Rashid Mohammed alias Gizzo, Brown Amoah Akwanor, Nii Obene, Ayitey Animle alias A. Brother and Mushe Akwanor are believed to have attacked and shot the deceased in his car while he was on his way home
The Police, acting on intelligence went to the house of one of the suspects, Rashid Mohammed at Sowutoum and discovered two pump-action guns, one G3 weapon, one revolver and one cap gun were retrieved in a locked room in a box.
Rashid Mohammed’s wife, who was in the house at the time, was subsequently arrested to assist in the investigations.
Rashid Mohammed (Gizzo) was arrested and standing trial as result.
Meanwhile, the CID on the case was mysteriously reported dead after he complained of stomach ache.
Although it has not yet been confirmed what might have killed him, it is believed he died of alleged poisoning.
CID Solo before his death allegedly revealed the constant threats and approaches from some chiefs, relatives of the suspects and political figures not to prosecute Gizzo in court over the murder, but he rescinded and prepared the case for court.
Speaking to Inspector Solo’s daughter, she revealed that her she was made to believe that her father was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains and later died.
Another interesting issues that came up over the case is the withdrawal of the prosecutor on the case. Reasons for his removal has also not been given.
This is creating doubts in the minds of the family as to the course of justice.
As if that was not enough, the suspect who was indicted , charged and processed before court for the murder of Oshipi Joshua Lartey, Rashid Mohammed (Gizzo), has been released on bail.
Although the State Attorney was believed to have put up a strong argument  as to why Gizzo should be kept in prison custody to aid police conduct smooth investigation and must not be granted the bail application filed ,the Judge refused the State Attorney’s pleas and allowed the bail condition for Gizzo.
 Gizzo, according to information is a son of a known and prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter.
Meanwhile, Gizzo is also standing trial for murder at the Kasao District Magistrate Court in case number C/KS/DG/10/18.
The Principal Elders of Akwanor Royal family of Ashalaja, Emmanuel Nii Awule Ackaah have called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare and the Chief Justice to ensure justice in the murder of Joshua Lartey ( Ashalaja Nii Oshipi ) and investigate the sudden release of Gizzo.
According to him, several appeals have been made to the Court not to allow the suspect’s bail since they are known hired assassins. 
He said members of the Akwanor Royal family have been receiving several threats from the suspects even when they were in police custody and are in fears what might befall them now that the suspects are out.
