Why Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock On Live TV.

Actor Will Smith while presenting the award for best documentary feature at the Oscars walked onstage and punched comedian Chris Rock.

Video of the moment has widely gone viral after Chris Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett during the show that the actor did not like.

He made a jab at Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, who is married with a 10-year-old child, for being nominated on the same night. He also joked that Denzel Washington as Macbeth had said “King Lear ain’t got nothing on me.”

the comment that triggered Will Smith was when Rock looked over to Jada Pinkett-Smith and said, “Jada, I love you, G.I Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” apparently referring to the actress’s bald head.

He immediately rushed the stage whilst Rock was still talking and smacked him right in the mouth!

Smith screamed, “keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth” at Rock after going back to his seat.

The actor apologized to the Academy after winning Best Actor later in the night for his performance in ‘King Richard’.

He pointedly refused to apologize to Rock, Chris Rock declined to press charges.

Although audiences around the world are unsure whether what happened was scripted or authentic, Smith said “Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family.”

He went on to say that, at “this time in my life” he is “overwhelmed by what God is calling on” him to do.
