Fix Our Deplorable Connecting Roads Akyem Anyinasinhene  Urges President Mahama At  Ohum Festival, Cautions Youth Against Negative Behavior

The chief of Akyem Anyinasin in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, Osabarima Atta Appeakorang Agyei II , has appealed to the government to construct the deplorable road connecting the area through Akyem Tafo to the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

Flanked by Queenmother of Akyem Anyinasin, Nana Nyarkoah Mpomaa, the chief also urged the upgrading of the local Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound into a polyclinic and the completion of an abandoned school classroom block in the area.

The chief urged President John Dramani Mahama to construct the deteriorating road linking Akyem Anyinasin through Akyem Tafo to the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

He stressed that the poor state of the road severely disrupts transportation for residents and requested the reshaping of the main streets within the township.

Complaining bitterly about the deteriorated state of the local CHIPS compound, the Chief called on the government to upgrade it to a fully-fledged clinic or polyclinic to properly serve the health needs of the town and its adjoining communities.

"I wish to draw the attention of our President, John Dramani Mahama, to the poor state of the Akyem Anyinasin CHPS compound, which is a primary healthcare facility designed to bring basic, accessible medical services to rural and underserved communities," the chief stressed.

He also appealed to the President to ensure the completion of the Akyem Anyinasin school block project. 

This project, initiated by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under President Nana Akufo-Addo, has been abandoned.

Osabarima Attah Appiahkorang Agyei II made the appeal while addressing citizens and invited guests during the celebration of this year's annual Ohum Festival. 

The people of Akyem Anyinasin, located in the Abuakwa North Municipality of Ghana's Eastern Region, celebrated the Ohum Festival on Wednesday, June 4, 2026.

This year's annual Festival was heavily attended by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, Mr Charles Darko Yeboah, popularly known as "Ozey" and his entourage.

Ohum is an ancestral festival of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area that takes place in two parts: Ohumkan (in June or July) and Ohumkyire (in September or October). 

It commemorates the migration of the Akyem people, marks the first harvest of yams, and gives thanks to their creator for the Birim River and the fertility of their land

Advice to the Youth To Respect for Elders:

The Chief cautioned the youth against moral decadence and negative behaviour.

He advised young people to show deep respect for their parents and elders, noting that respecting societal elders is a prerequisite for success, whereas disrespecting them can lead to unforeseen hardships.

The Chief warned his followers and the youth against engaging in activities that would disturb public peace and unity. 

He vowed not to tolerate or defend anyone who uses his name or traditional office to create problems in the community.

He appealed to all citizens of Akyem Anyinasin, both in Ghana and abroad, to unite and support his efforts to lobby for social and infrastructural development, while warning individuals with negative mindsets to stay away from the Akyem Anyinasin community.
