Global Recognition: Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye Wins The 2025 Best Paper Award 

 Legal practitioner and business executive Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye, Esq., has been honoured with the 2025 Best Paper Award by Management Research Quarterly (MRQ) for a research study, examining business continuity in professional-service firms.

Dr. Nyamekye received the prestigious recognition alongside the distinguished Dr. Abdul Hamid Kwarteng for their study titled: "Dynamic Capabilities and Factors Contributing to Business Continuity in Professional-Service Firms: Evidence from Law Practice in an Emerging Economy.”

The study examines how professional-service firms, particularly law firms, can develop and use dynamic capabilities to remain resilient, adaptable and sustainable in an increasingly challenging business environment.

According to Management Research Quarterly, the Best Paper Award recognises academic excellence and impactful management research. Papers are assessed by the journal's Scientific Committee based on scientific rigour, theoretical contribution, managerial implications and their contribution to the journal's mission.

A DISTINGUISHED LEGAL AND ACADEMIC CAREER

Dr. Nyamekye, an alumnis of Mfantsipim School, is the Founder and Lead Counsel of Nyamekye and Partners, an Accra-based law firm. He was called to the Ghana Bar in 2013 after obtaining his Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology from KNUST, Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Development Finance, an LL.M. in Information Technology Law, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from IPAG Business School, France.

His academic pursuits also include an executive education in Artificial Intelligence and International Finance at Harvard Law School, while he continues to pursue further studies in Maritime Law(LL.M) and Defence and International Politics(Phd).

BEYOND LAW

Beyond his legal practice, Dr. Nyamekye has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth development, leadership and community service.

He is the Founder of the Young Leaders Forum, where he mentors young people in leadership, public speaking and community development. He also holds leadership positions within professional and alumni organisations.
