Aboaboni, Guntu, Asaa Larry AndJohn Debrah Arrested Over Omanjor Quadruple Murder
Authorities clarified that none of the four suspects are involved in the separate death of Nii Kwashie Lamptey, the son of the Sowutuom chief, despite recent media reports claiming otherwise.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects known as Asaa Larry, Guntu, Aboaboni and John Debrah, in connection with the murder of four individuals from a Omanjor chief’s faction.

Authorities clarified that none of the four suspects are involved in the separate death of Nii Kwashie Lamptey, the son of the Sowutuom chief, despite recent media reports claiming otherwise.
Following these arrests, the elders of the Abola Piam Tunma clan urged the general public—particularly residents of Omanjor and neighboring communities in the Ga North Municipality—to dismiss a false report published in The Ghanaian Graphic, a private newspaper.
The article, dated Monday, September 8, 2026, claimed that police had captured the key gang leaders responsible for killing Nii Kwashie Lamptey (the Prince of Sowutuom and Chief of Kwashibu) and Nii Brafo of Sowutuom.
According to the elders, that publication is completely false and misleading.
They alleged that the actual perpetrators of the August 2025 Omanjor shooting planted the false story in the newspaper to divert public attention away from the arrests of their accomplices: Guntu, Aboaboni, Asaa Larry and John Debrah.
The elders maintained that the suspects Guntu, Aboaboni Asaa Larry and John Debrah currently in court were arrested exclusively for their alleged involvement in the bloody shooting incident during the Omanjor Homowo festival celebration.
They emphasized that the police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the deaths of Nii Kwashie Lamptey and Nii Brafo, contrary to The Ghanaian Graphic's claims.
The suspects were apprehended in separate locations in Accra.
Asaa Larry was apprehended by the police in Sowutuom following a tip-off, detained, and hauled before the court of law in Adabraka.
Guntu was arrested at Manhean in Accra after police acted on intelligence regarding his whereabouts.
He has since been remanded into custody by the Adabraka Circuit Court.
Sources note that Guntu has a history of criminal activity and has been linked to multiple murder cases across the Ga State.
Mr Aboaboni arrested by the police at Chorkor Alhaji Area in Accra on Monday October 5, 2026
Mr John Debrah was arrested in Sowutuom and charged with murder. The Adabraka Circuit Court has remanded him into custody.
The violent incident occurred on Sunday, August 30, 2025, during the annual Homowo Festival, a period of cultural celebration for the chiefs and people of Omanjor.
The festival procession, which included the traditional sprinkling of Kpokpoi, was disrupted near the "Police land" area by the accused and approximately 30 other individuals who claimed the celebrants were trespassing.
The confrontation escalated into gunfire, resulting in four deaths and leaving several others injured.
Reports indicate that Guntu and his associates allegedly tracked the victims from an event in Pokuase and killed them at Olebu in the Ga North Municipality before fleeing the jurisdiction.
Police investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the remaining suspects who are currently on the run.
