Akorvie Royal Clan Queen Mother Joins Dedicated Citizens To Clean Mepe   Adzigo Torkor; Urges Mepe Citizens To Foster Communal Spirit

The Queen Mother of the Akorvie Royal Divisional Clan in the Mepe Traditional Area of the North Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region,

Mama Abla Antwiwaa Il, has joined forces with dedicated citizens, Assembly members, and stakeholders to participate in a clean-up exercise at Mepe Adzigo Torkor.

This location serves as a mini-market for the people of Mepe and its adjoining communities.

The exercise was organized by the Assembly Member for the Mepe Electoral Area, Mr. Amos Ahorsu Bolor and environmental sanitation officers from the North Tongu District Assembly.

During the cleanup, the dedicated residents of Mepe, Assembly members, Mama Abla Antwiwaa II and environmental sanitary officers were seen busily cleaning dirty places and filling in eroded areas to ensure good hygiene.

In an interview with the Africa TODAY NEWS newspaper during the exercise, the Queen Mother stated that she joined the citizens to clean the place because she believes traditional leaders should lead by example.

According to Mama Abla Antwiwaa II, she views the exercise as very important because she believes a town without environmental cleanliness and hygiene will face problems.

Hence, she decided to show up and participate fully in the exercise to teach her subjects how to ensure environmental hygiene.

The Queenmother—who fully participated—expressed concern over the low turnout.

However, she was quick to note her belief that citizens would show up for the exercise in the coming months.

The Queenmother emphasized the critical need for a communal spirit among the citizens of Mepe.

She noted that she had engaged sanitation officers from the North Tongu District Assembly.

During their discussion, the environmental sanitary officers pointed out several critical issues, while she briefed them on the challenges she had identified regarding the citizens' inability to participate fully.

The Queenmother asserted that she expects a significant turnaround by the end of the month as they enter a new calendar period.

As the next clean-up exercise approaches, she strongly believes more citizens will participate, ultimately promoting positive environmental sanitation and hygiene for everyone in the area.

Mama Abla Antwiwaa II stressed that regular environmental clean-ups are a vital community concern because cleanliness is fundamental to human life.

She noted that the traditional authorities would occasionally delegate representatives to lead the environmental sanitation exercises in Mepe.

According to Mama Abla Antwiwaa II, future plans for environmental sanitation will not rely solely on formal announcements before taking effect.

Instead, the initiative will be structured so that everyone cleans the open spaces around their own surroundings, fostering household-level environmental cleanliness.

She pointed out that certain undeveloped open spaces and lands are currently being turned into unauthorized dumping sites by some individual households.

She added that traditional authorities are working closely with the local Assembly to stop individuals from dumping refuse indiscriminately, thereby sustaining a clean and hygienic environment in the area.

The Queenmother stressed that she welcomes advice from all citizens of Mepe, both at home and abroad, on how to enforce sustainable environmental sanitation and hygiene for the entire community.

The Queenmother also spoke extensively about peaceful coexistence and unity in the area, calling on citizens to embrace one another to bring development to Mepe.

Mama Abla Antwiwaa II called on the citizens to love one another, stressing the need for everyone to practice forgiveness, unity, and togetherness.

According to the Queenmother, only peace, tolerance, and unity can propel development in Mepe. She urged all citizens to set aside their differences and work harmoniously for growth and development.
