Actor and politician John Dumelo claims his regard and affection for Yvonne Nelson increased after she declined a chance to run against him in the 2019 Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

This comes after it was stated in the actress' most recent book that a close aide to President Akufo-Addo wanted her to run in the by-election for Ayawaso West Wuogon on the NPP ticket rather than Lydia Alhassan.

John Dumelo claimed in an interview with Doreen Avio that Yvonne Nelson confided in him after being given the chance.

"I came to realize that I admired her for that. I admired her for  Not making that choice," said the politician-turned-actor to Doreen Avio.

"It is obvious that if you have been instructed to compete, whomever is instructing you or the group of people are prepared to provide you with whatever assistance you require. She prioritized our friendship, in my opinion, John Dumelo remarked.

John Dumelo noticed that she valued their connection as seen by her decision to decline the offer and let him know.

"Real friends behave in that way. She has my utmost regard for it, he remarked.

This comes after Yvonne Nelson's 'I Am Not Yvonne Nelson' tell-all book was released on Sunday at the Peduase Lodge.

The actress recounts her hardships as a young lady on a quest to understand herself in the book.
