After the Blackstars' loss against Cape Verde, a disappointed Shatta Wale fires them

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, Ghana's first game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ended in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Cape Verde.

After the Blackstars' loss against Cape Verde, a disappointed Shatta Wale fires them

At the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, the Island nation defeated the Black Stars. Goals by Jamiro Monteiro and Garry Rodrigues caused the most damage, with Alexander Djiku's goal barely providing solace.

Inaki Williams and Mohammed Kudus were both benched as Chris Hughton faced some difficult decisions regarding his starting lineup.

The starting lineup for Richard Ofori included Denis Odoi, Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, and Gideon Mensah in the back four.

Controversial Shatta Wale has criticized the Blackstars for their abysmal performance in response to their shocking loss.

Enraged Shatta Wale fired the team in a self-made video, telling the GFA to rename them "Black Soil" as Ghana had only won one of the previous ten AFCON games, meaning the team is effectively useless.

Shatta stated that the team would be eliminated from the current AFCON competition and that, in contrast to their previous performances in the competition, they would not produce any noteworthy outcomes.

“How can a star be black? Name the team Black Soil so they can at least produce something because black soils are the best”, he stated.
