Community Police Personnel stabs civilian to death at Dunkwa

There was an electricity bill misunderstanding between the two which resulted in the dispute leading to the death of the deceased.

A Community Police Personnel by the name of Isaac Owusu Boateng has allegedly murdered a 30-year-old man at Attechem near Dunkwa in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality in the Central Region of Ghana on Monday, February 15, 2021, in the hours of 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm in his own house.

The mother of the deceased, Yaa Safoa In an interview with Central Regional Soireenews correspondent, Abusuapanyin Kojo Ahinful confirmed that the community Police Personnel engaged in a fight with his son known as Collins Dorman which led to her son stabbed to death.

"I was a witness and didn't know he had already stabbed my son. whiles I wailed for people to come around, he stabbed his neck and he fell on the ground. My son could not talk because he was stabbed in the heart to death," Yaa Safoa mourned.

Describing the incident to a journalist at Solar FM in Upper Denkyira East municipality, a tenant narrated that the issue was a result of an electricity bill apportionment. 

"Around 6 o'clock, Collins Dorman, a tenant came in search of the policeman but could not meet him. He returned later and the conversation that ensued between the two was a light bill.

"Their electricity bill had issues and the matter was settled at the Police station where the community policeman was apportioned 100 cedis. He paid 50 cedis and had the receipt as evidence to the police. The tenant claimed the receipt but told the community police personnel to pay 200 cedis instead of the allotted amount accepted at the Police Station. A misunderstanding ensued between the two but the community policeman took his receipt and entered his room.

"Hours later, the deceased had bought food and upon entering the house, he was stabbed on his chest and neck right in front of his mother observing the scene by the policeman. He was rushed to the hospital and unfortunately passed away.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at Dunkwa St. Mark Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The suspect is in the hand of the Dunkwa Divisional Police Command for investigation.

Some of the residents in the area have also demonstrated and burnt tyres after hearing the news.
