The District Health Director for Sene West of the Bono East Region *Mr Alex Kumah* has confirmed that teenage pregnancy cases have gone up in the district.

The District Health Director for Sene West of the Bono East Region *Mr Alex Kumah* has confirmed that teenage pregnancy cases have gone up in the district.

According to him, they recorded 13% cases in 2020 but 2021year performance review has shown that it has jumped to 14%.

He also stated that adolescent deaths cases have also gone up. 

According to him,

the cause of these adolescent deaths is from abortion, typhoid, d diseases etc.

He said what worried them most is that the youth have rejected family planning and whenever they get pregnant, they attempt abortion by taking in some local drugs.

He spoke to our correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata, during their End of the 2021 year performance review under the theme "Sustaining Quality health delivery, lessons learned from covid-19" which took place a Kwame Danso.

On covid-19 cases, he confirmed that they have recorded 43 cases within the last two weeks but due to the vaccination they all survived except only one person who passed away because he was not vaccinated.

He also confirmed that  1,842 students have been vaccinated so far at Sene West District.

On his part, the District Chief Executive for Sene West is Honorable. John Nyarba also commended the health workers at the district. According to him upon all the changes they are going through they are doing their best to provide quality health delivery to the people of the district.

He assured them of building more nurse's quarters to help reduce accommodation problems.
