Report Any Form Of Discrimination To CHRAJ - AIDS Commission DG patients

The Director-General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Mr Kyeremeh Atuahene has charged persons living with HIV/AIDS to report any form of discrimination against them to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice.

Mr kyeremeh Atuahene disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent Nana Anfreh Damanata.

People living with HIV are experiencing human rights violations, such as community or family exclusion, denial of services among other things.

As a result of this, they are often unable to access critical services, including health, education, security and employment.

Director-General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Mr Kyeremeh Atuahene says these human rights violations are the result of stigmatization and discriminatory actions on the part of families, communities, employers especially the private sector and government institutions and they contribute to the poor update of health services by the people living with HIV.

Dr. kyeremeh Atuahene, therefore, called on traditional authorities, the Clergies, Imams, the Media and other stakeholders to join hands in the fight against discrimination of persons living with HIV/ AIDS.

He disclosed that in 2020 Ghana recorded a total of   345,000 cases of HIV.
