Vehicle and Assets dealers  union threatens to demonstrate against government

The Vehicle and Asset Dealers Union of Ghana (VADUG) has indicated that they will resist all attempts by the government to implement the Customs Amendment Bill 2020, as it has the potential of collapsing their transport businesses.

The vehicle dealers lamented that despite several engagements with the government to halt the implementation of the bill,    the government has announced its intention to begin implementation of the bill on September 1, 2022.

The VADUG members insisted that their businesses are already on the brink of collapse due to the falling interest rate, high inflation,n, and burdensome taxes.

They asserted the implementation of the Customs Implementation Act 2020, will exacerbate the situation and result in the loss of over 15 thousand jobs.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Executive member of the Vehicle and Asset Dealers Union of Ghana, Mr.Cliford Ansu called on the government to scrap the proposed 35% duty on salvaged vehicles if not, they will demonstrate against him.
