The Central Regional Small Scale Miners Association are very irritated at the Minister of Lands and Natural Resource, Honourable Samuel Abdulai Jinapor for swerving them.

Per their complaints, the Minister refused to honour an appointed schedule after travelling far with the hope of meeting Honourable Jinapor to discuss actions on the recent burning of excavators.

Speaking to Central Regional Soireenews correspondent, the Public Relation Officer of the Assin Fosu Small Scale Miners Association, Mr Luxmen Olando Quaye told that a message was received that the Minister of Land and Natural Resource, Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jinapor wants to engage them in discussions concerning illegal mining at Twifo Praso in the Central Region.

He narrated that with joy and gladness, they prepared to meet him only to be disappointed with his absence. He revealed to Soireenews the Association members met at Twifo Praso before they were told that Hon. Abu Jinapor is attending an emergency meeting at a different place.

With disappointment written all over their faces, the PRO communicated that they had a lot of questions because, during the National Dialogue, the Minister promised to include them in his activities.

They expressed discontentment at the Ministry’s ignorance on their pleas and still burning their excavators and machines.

He claimed that mining is their source of income in the vicinity especially the youth, therefore, if the government do not give them the opportunity to operate, the Sakawa and robbery will increase in the country.
