Honourable Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto also made it clear to the public that, the government is seeking money to compensate the poultry farmers who have been affected by bird flu.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Honourable Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, on his one-day working visit to the Western North Region, has said that ''some African countries now depend on Ghana for food''.

He made the statement in the Western North Region boasting that, West African countries like "Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo etc now come to Ghana for food since food is abundant in Ghana here." 

The Honourable Minister disclosed that some countries depend on Ghana for food due to the good performance of H.E Nana Akuffo-Addo revealing that "the government has controlled the revenue Ghana derives from these countries for the development of the nation."

The Agric Minister further said, ''the NPP government, under the leadership of H.E Nana Akuffo Addo since they came into power has constructed 80 warehouses of which 6 completed ones are in the region''.

He added that the government is also renovating deplorable warehouses in the Region into good states to help save food for the future as a lot of people are showing interest in the agricultural sector

Honourable Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto made it clear to the public that, government is seeking money to compensate the poultry farmers who have been affected by bird flu.

The Paramount Chief of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama also expressed his profound gratitude to the minister for his visit to the Region (western north). 

Katakyie Kwasi Bumagah stated that the Traditional Council and the tenant farmers have reached an agreement that, they will possess their lands for 50 years and after expiration, "renewal of the land tenancy agreement must be effected, a situation they applauded government for coming to their aid.''

He added that "though the government compensated the farmers for the cocoa rehabilitation refuse to pay the landowners''.
 
He finally pleaded with the government to compensate the landowners.
