The Assemblyman of Oforikrom East electoral Area, Honorable John Nketiah has unwrapped that previous leaders who were appointed to lead the Municipality failed to leave up to expectation following their desertion of mandates towards progressing the various communities.

He asserted that since Oforikrom was separated into East and West, there were some infrastructural works which should have been earlier attended to inspire the lives of residents yet their let down has brought about so many challenges which he is putting efforts to finding solutions to them.

“Since the demarcation at Oforikrom, I had challenges from the time when I was appointed because our previous leaders disappointed us by failing to fulfil their mandates,” Honourable John Nketia told.

“I am still collaborating with them in seeking for ideas to better the various communities and by Grace, we are on course for a better Oforikrom. My one and a half year is unprecedented and it tells us that indeed we are progressing,” he added.

Residents in the Oforikrom East Electoral Area have been lamenting over poor drainage system and collapsed bridge which makes it difficult for them to go about their normal duties especially in the rainy season.

The Assemblymember in an interview with SoireeNews on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, outlined steps to end the challenge disclosing that he has spoken to the people “and we have made up our mind to improve the road at Saw Mill by filling the deplorable areas with chippings.”

The Traditional authorities comprising of Imams of Anwiam Dangombaline on Monday threatened to mobilise their subjects, particularly the youth to hit the streets with a massive demonstration next week Monday over the bad road in the area.

Sandbags have also been used as a defence against floods whenever it rains to prevent them from entering homes.

Although the Assemblymember gave no substantive solution as to when the challenge will be resolved yet he conveyed that soon the solution will be finalised.

“The bridge at the entrance of the Anwiam Dagombaline was constructed in time era of the late and former president JJ Rawlings and renovation works has been denied since then.

"People living close to the bridge are going through tough times whenever it rains heavily and it floods into houses. All efforts are been put in place to resolve the challenges and soon works will begin,” he assured.

He called on the people at Anwiam Dagombaline and Oforikrom New Site to avoid negligence in their various homes in the rainy season era when leaving for work to prevent mishaps.
