Over 80,000 people attended the Nigerian star's sold-out performance, which featured songs from across his ten-year career, from the early hit Like to Party to the anthem Last Last.

The Grammy-winning musician, who spent part of his childhood in the British capital, said, "Words can't describe my emotions right now... There's nothing else I'd dreamed more of."

During the two-hour set in the grounds of West Ham United football club, Burna Boy was accompanied onstage by scores of dancers and joined by a string of stars, including Stormzy, J Hus, Dave, and Popcaan.

African music has been prominent before, according to Eddie Kadi, host of the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show on BBC radio.

However, he asserts that we can attribute afrobeats' enormous success to the manner in which it incorporates and alters a range of genres, as well as the fact that young people from Africa's worldwide diaspora have solidified African music in the societies in which they live.
