Black Sherif, the reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, is urging members of the music community and industry stakeholders to put more effort into working together rather than blaming others for Ghanaian music's lack of international recognition.

The multi-award winning musicians made a brief statement during a recent stakeholder engagement hosted by the Ministry of Information.

The purpose of the engagement was to get feedback from creatives and other players in the creative space for the promotion of the #playghana initiative.

They emphasized the importance of industry unity and discouraged rivalries and conflicts among stakeholders. 

The Yaya crooner asserts that it is unhelpful to hold DJs, artists, and fans responsible for the problems facing the business, highlighting the fact that collaboration between all stakeholders in the music ecosystem is necessary for the sector to have a strong global presence and earn sustained respect.

"We must stop placing the blame for our industry's growth on DJs, artists, and customers and make a concerted effort to expand it if we genuinely want to see it flourish and get international recognition. The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards Best International Flow winner declared, "It is our collective duty."
