Residents Of Berekum.-Senase Calls On EPA To Relocate Mini Fuel Station Operators In The Town.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to relocate a mini fuel operator selling fuel.

The people of Berekum-Senase in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region have called on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to relocate a mini fuel operator selling fuel on the Senase stretch of road close to a high tension pole and houses.

Speaking to the Landlady, Madam Doris explained that for the past 2 years they have informed the authorities in Berekum East including Ghana Fire Service, the Police, Traditional Authorities and the Municipal Assembly to wedge into the danger pose to the residents living in that location to relocate the fuel business.

According to the Landlady, the fuel businessman by name Alhaji got the land from her husband for the past 5 years but due to the danger posed to the residents, the businessman was contacted to relocate but to no avail after two years of approach which if care is not taken there can be a fiery explosion.

The Assembly Member for Senase East, Hon. Yeboah Kwaku Charles a.k.a Forman also added that, though the man started his business some years ago because the location of the business now caused environmental hazards to the residents, the local authorities have agreed to move the mini fuel station operator to a different location far from the town but said since they tried the approach to relocate the operator, the Alhaji has resisted the attempt of relocation.

He again explained that because the man is refusing to relocate, the Landlady attempted to take a different approach to move him by force yet the man has shielded himself from some authorities and is refusing to heed the relocation attempt.

He is therefore appealing to the Environmental Protection Agency to come into this matter to see the way forward to relocate the man who is operating at a very disastrous location that poses emergency threats to the residents living where the Alhaji operates.
