The residents of Dumasua in the Sunyani west Municipal of the Bono Region have made a passionate appeal to the government and authorities of the region to consider relocation of the Fiapre tollbooth.

According to them, the tollbooth has caused more harm than good to them and massively drives away their development and still affecting them negatively.

Dumasua is located less than a kilometre away from where the tollbooth at Fiapre has been cited. Honourable Emmanuel Gyamfi (Mascot), Assemblymember for Dumasua noted that businessmen and women, government workers among others fail to stay and opens up business over there due to the numerous toll they pay.

He said the citing of the tollbooth within the Dumasua Town centre has compared drivers to increase fare due to toll payment.

“The worse thing for me to pay for toll before zoom lion can come for their refuse, a community where tollbooth is there have not seen a single development, no water drains, no proper market and bad roads is killing us.

Regrettably, most of the strangers who acquire land to put up houses within Dumasua, Mantukwa and its environ had sold them out and evacuated their building materials, they are on to another locality where there is no toll booth, all due to financial implications associated with staying at Dumasua”, he stressed.

They are therefore calling on authorities to speed up processes of relocating the tollbooth from the township to ease living for the inhabitants in the community.

They are however suggesting for the tollbooth to be relocated to Amanfoso thus in-between Sunyani west and Berekum East.
