The government commended the green Ghana project which saw the planting of 5million trees nationwide in a day.

The Ghana Federation of Forest and Farm Producers (GhaFFap) has applauded the government for its keen interest in planting trees to make Ghana Green for Future Offspring.

This follows the government's one day schedule made for planting of five (5) million trees all over the country in order to ensure a climate-resistant and adaptable economy while achieving sustainable development through equitable low carbon economic growth,

Speaking to Soireenews, Executive Director of Abrono Organic Farming Project (ABOFAP) who doubles as the Twafohene of Forikrom Traditional Council in the Techiman North District in the Bono East Region, Nana Kwao Adams stressed that GhaFFap which includes Abrono Organic Farming Project (ABOFAP) and Peasant Farmers Association have promised to plant twenty thousand trees (20,000) across both the transitional and Savannah zone to amend the forestry zone within the year.

He indicated that ten thousand trees (10,000) have been planted already adding that trees are part of humanity since they support life with Oxygen. He stressed that the investment in seedling planting needs to be protected to ensure good health.

Meanwhile, the Project Officer for the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana, Mr Benjamin Sarfo expressed his excitement for the good initiative taken by the government to make the Country Green.

He recounted that, aside from the contribution of trees to rainfalls for Farmers to undertake farming activities, trees are seen as economic resources.

He emphasized that trees are a host for birds and other insects like bees which honey is produced for food and income after it's sold hence the need to protect them.

Moreover, Mr Dwumah Kofi Peter, a teacher at Kesse Basahyia Senior High School on behalf of the Teachers and the Students accented that since students are agents of Change, their contribution to planting will enable parents and guidance to embrace the initiative adding that students sometimes sit and learn under trees when classrooms environment are not conducive for learning

He however commended GhaFFap for the tree planting initiative and asked them not to rest till Ghana become the Forest hub on planet Earth.
