Some residents in the Tamale Metropolis who were taken by surprise by an hour of rain are appealing to Government to construct a drainage system in the affected communities.

According to them, yesterday's flooding as a result of a lack of drainage systems and befitted roads in the areas caused havoc to them.

At the Gbewaa Residential Community, some residents said they couldn't return home yesterday because all roads leading to their homes were taken over by the rainwater and they had to sleep elsewhere.

To them, all promises made by the previous and the current Government to construct better roads and drainage to the affected areas had proven futile.

The residents lamented that whenever it rains the situation affects their movement to the town centre for their daily business activities.

Some of the affected areas in yesterday downpour include Taha, Gumani, Kublemagu, Vitten, Kakpayili, Fou, and Nyanshagu.
