THE CURRENT decision taken the traditional rulers in Asanteman Council in Kumasi to order the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Justin Frimpong Kodua to bring before the Council, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka,Wontumi for allegedly passing unsavoury comments about Asanteman has angered a leading member of the NPP, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw to verbally insult the chiefs of the council.

Fuming with anger, Mr Ampaw who doubles a private legal practitioner was overheard in a viral video raining insults on the Ashanti Chiefs and called them thieves and people's girl friend and wife snatchers.
He further accused the chiefs of engaging in illegal small scale mining activities, saying that their illegal mining activities have  destroyed water bodies, forest reserves and environment.
“Those chiefs dragging Wontumi to appear before Council what has he done to you; have you solved your thievery problems with Asantehene? Listen to me Ashanti chiefs, the kind of things you have been doing against the Asantehene, he is even tired of you…” Lawyer Maurice Ampaw goes mad.

"These chiefs , who do they think they are. They are thieves, who criminally engaged in the double sales of lands to unsuspecting organisations and individuals. These traditional officer holders have illegally extorting monies/goodies from the unsuspecting individuals and organisations," Mr Ampaw noted in a viral video which is in possession of Soireenews.com.

In the video, the visibly Lawyer Ampaw was saw accusing the chiefs in the Ashanti Region for engaging in many filthy deals including having sexual affairs with other people girlfriends and wives.

Another individual whose issue came up for discussion was Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, a presenter at Wontumi TV/Radio.
The lawyer has denigrated chiefs in the Ashanti Region in a video which has since gone viral.
It would be recalled that  Otumfuo's Chief Linguist, Nana Kofi Owusu, has told the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Justin Frimpong Kodua, that they should bring before the Asanteman Council, the Regional Chairman of the Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka, Wontumi within one week.
The order was a given at meeting held on January 22 at the Manhyia Palace.
“Wontumi should be produced here by next week even if he is on sick bed” he told the NPP delegation.
Wontumi has been dragged to the seat of the Asantehene for allegedly passing unsavoury comments about Asanteman.
General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua appeared before the Asanteman Council together with the national organiser, Henry Nana Boakye as well as some regional executives of the party to plead on behalf of the Regional Chairman.
However, conspicuously missing was Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Mr Kodua told the chiefs that Wontumi was indisposed “Nananom, we could not come with Chairman Wontumi because he has not been well.”
But, the excuse did not sit well with some of the chiefs.
For instance, one of Otumfuo's chief linguists, Nana Kwaku Owusu demanded for a medical report of Wontumi “if you claim Wontumi is sick, where is his doctor's report?” he queried.
Mr Frimpong Kodua pleaded for clemency as he was unable to present the doctor's report requested.
The Management of Wontumi Media has also been summoned by the Asanteman Council for allowing Maurice Ampaw to use their platform to denigrate chiefs in the Ashanti Region.
“You allowed Maurice Ampaw who doesn't know tradition to insult us; we need him here and we will put before him four questions and ask him to translate” Nana Kwaku Owusu said amidst giggling from the audience.
Chief of Bantama who doubles as the Chief of Kumasi, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI chaired the special Asanteman council.
Sitting was adjourned to Monday January 29.
