Over fear of the 'thunder god,' the body of a youngster slain by lightning was abandoned.

Emmanuel Tori, a 17-year-old teenager who died in Ho after being struck by lightning, had his body abandoned several hours after the tragedy.

The 17-year-old student was killed in the event, which occurred late Monday afternoon, while two others were injured and brought to the hospital for treatment.

"Unfortunately, the body of the deceased remains unharmed at the location – thanks to a traditional belief that such occurrences could be caused by a thunder god known as Xebieso in local lingo," according to the news portal.

The dead were a coconut vendor who operated right across the street from the Ghana Electricity Company's office in the regional capital.

Since then, city officials have remained tight-lipped about the incident.
