Thursday September 29, 2022 was exactly one year that Mr Francis Kwadwo Oppong was officially confirmed by the Assembly members in the ten (10) electoral areas in the Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region as the substantive District Chief Executive (DCE) to steer the administrative affairs of the Assembly. 

However, since Mr Oppong assumed office, he is very instrumental in executing a number of social and infrastructure intervention projects and programmes in order to improve the living conditions of the people.
Mr Oppong stated this in an interview with Soireenews.com via telephone call on Friday September 30, 2022 when he outlined a number of social and infrastructure achievements chalked up by the Assembly and ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) since his appointment as DCE for the area.

The projects include; reshaping and construction of roads, construction of classroom blocks, building office accomodation for Assembly staff, improvement in health facilities, provision of water and sanitation facilities, improvement of farming activities of farmers, connecting some communities (rural electrification) into the national power grid, building of market centers, provision of sports facilities, among others.
According to hard working DCE, these initiatives are all geared towards addressing some of the development needs of the people in the ten (10) electoral areas within the district.
Highlighting the successes of the NPP government so far, the district chief executive said construction works were ongoing for six-unit classroom blocks at the Nkrankwanta Presbyterian Primary School to replace the dilapidated structure.
Others are the ongoing construction of a police posts within some communities, which according to him, would go a long way in curbing the spate of armed robbery cases in the district and the construction of a new three-unit classroom block for Yaakrom which, according to him, is about 85% complete with the funding of District Development Fund from the coffers of the Assembly.
"We inherited many projects which the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had initiated and we are continuing since it is the resources of Ghana that was used to start the projects,"he said.
He expressed worry about the bad state of the road networks in the are and assured constituents that the government through the Assembly was committed to fixing all the bad roads.

He stated that the major challenge that confronted most communities was road networks infrastructure, adding that the assembly had committed enough funds towards the construction of roads in some communities.
On rural electrification, Mr Oppong noted that several communities were being connected to the national grid within the Dormaa West District.
On health, the DCE mentioned the renovation, construction of Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound and the provision of water and electricity to some communities.
He noted that when he assumed office, the major challenges facing the Assembly were the office accomodations for the workers, saying that  Assembly is renting private house for office accomodation for some working staff of the Assembly, for which he took proactive measures to tackle the problem.
Currently, according to him,the Assembly has a ultramodern office accomodation for which the staff are enjoying to improve on their daily working activities.
Additionally, the DCE noted that he outfit has completed a CHIP Compound in Akprakukrom which he is yet to be commissioned.
He pointed out that the Assembly has completed the construction of the nurse's quarters in Kwabena Dwomokrom and the  Kwakuanya.
According to him, the buildings were about to be commissioned to help address the  accommodation challenges facing nurses in the district.
On the social development projects, the DCE pointed out that since the Dormaa West District is the farming dorminated community, he assisted the various farmers to improve their farming activities.
He disclosed that his outfit has given a huge  numbers of oil palm seedlings to the farmers.
Additionally, according to the DCE, his outfit distributed about 100,000 cocoa seedlings, 5000 oil palm seedlings, 10,000 coffee seedlings, 8500 coconut seedlings to the farmers in the ten electoral areas.
"We are in the processes to do more to boost the farming activities of the farmers in the district," he stressed.
He stated that the Assembly under his administration intends to develop the district through both social and infrastructure projects and programmes, adding that he outfit has given facelifts to the various roads within the township of the Dormaa West.
The DCE indicated that there are on-goings massive roads infrastructure projects from Diabaa to Nkrankwanta for which the first quota has been applied on the road.

He pointed out that there are ongoings roads construction projects from the Kwakuanya through Nkwanta to Nkwantaso, Yaakrom to Atesikrom, noting that the contractors are on the sites constructing all these roads.
He pointed out that "l am doing my best and hoping that in the coming two to three years ahead of me, l am planning to finish all these road networks infrastructure projects and other social development projects before l end my term. So my people would benefit from these projects," Mr Oppong assured constituents.
"In this sense, l am appealing to the various non-governmental organisations, philanthropists, individuals personalities and organisations to come to our aid since the government or the Assembly alone cannot do it all. We should all come together and support our district in all diverse ways so that our district would develop well," the DCE appealed.
He said the Assembly through the government is doing its best to bring the necessary and needed development to the people.
He indicated the Assembly's commitment to embark on the new projects in some  communities within the district.
"Very soon l am going to execute three social and infrastructure intervention projects which comprises emerging healthcare unit at the Dormaa West District Hospital, our district hospital does not have an emerging healthcare unit. 
Aside the lack of this facility, Dormaa West District donot have Education Unit and that one too we are going to put it up there," he further emphasized.
He noted that he would soon cut-sod for the construction of six unit classrooms block for Nkrankwanta Presbyterian Primary School would be funded by the District Common Fund.
He noted that the Assembly has assisted huge numbers of Persons with disabilities (PWDs), adding that they are still touring the district to ensure of getting all the facts of the challenges and problems facing the people and put proactive measures in place to resolve them.
Mr Oppong stated that his outfit is putting up accomodations for health workers who are  in- charge of the various healthcare institutions in the district.
He maintained that they thaught that the health workers have to be housed closed to their health providing facilities so that they can attend to the ill persons as early as possible.

For education, he added that the Assembly has instituted plans to start building an ultramodern examination papers printing centre for  Dormaa West District of the Ghana Education Service, stating that the project is 90 % complete.

He pointed out that the Assembly has assisted the girl child in the ICT project, adding that they are doing a lot in the security of the people, education, agriculture, health and protecting the only Npamso Forest Park from being destroyed by the illegal chainsaw operators.
