An old KVIP toilet facility at Shishegu electoral area, a community in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region is in a deplorable state posing danger to residents.

The toilet facility which serves the residents in the area was built so many years ago and its directly opposite houses and a school building distracting living in the community.

Deep visible cracks could be seen all over the weak structure and about 10 persons made use of the facility as at the time Soireenews visited despite the current danger of the toilet.

The residents recounted the several times and attempts made in reporting the bad state of the toilet facility to the authorities.

They explained that whenever it rains, the stench provided by the facility drives them from their various houses which has resulted in breeding diseases in the community. They told that people have taken advantage of the situation and keep dumping refuse dump in the area which has bred fear in residents for the reason that their wards may go out to play and fall into the toilet pit.

They are appealing to the government to push down the deathtrap toilet facility to save lives

Responding to the issue, the Assembly Member in the area, Honourable Yahaya Yussif said, he has written several letters to the Municipal Assembly to renovate the facility or pull it down completely to avert future misfortunes yet the Assembly has not listened to their plea.

He has therefore pleaded with the Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation to help eradicate the facility before it takes life.
