PARLIAMENTARY Candidate (PC) for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr Alfred Osei-Poku, has entreated the constituents to take advantage of health screening exercises organized by individual philanthropists and organisations to improve their health conditions. 

He indicated that it was unfortunate that though some persons were aware of their medical status, they were unable to access health care services because they could not renew their National Health Insurance Cards.
He asked residents to add and consume more green vegetables and fruits in their daily diet, to build a strong immune system.
Mr Osei-Poku gave the forgoing advise when he organized a free health screening exercise for the Muslim women and men including children at Ayirebi Zongo community in support of the end of fasting after Ramadan.

More than150 people at Ayirebi Zongo
and its environs in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency have benefitted from a free health screening and medical care which was held on Friday April 12, 2024.
The exercise organised by Mr Osei-Poku was on the theme;“ Your Health Is Our Priority,” forms part of activities for the NDC PC to bring healthcare to the door step of the constituents.

The exercise was meant to offer people at Ayirebi Zongo the opportunity to seek medical attention on any bordering health issues.
However, the beneficiaries of the exercise were screened for malaria, diabetes, vision, blood pressure, cholesterol, hepatitis B and other vitals by medical professionals drawn from the CHAA/ ELIM Medical Center, a private health facility at Ayirebi owned by Mr Osei-Poku.
All the beneficiaries were given drugs, according to the kinds of illnesses that were detected (diagnosis) on them by the medical officers who had undertaken the exercise.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, Mr Osei-Poku stated that the exercise aimed at creating awareness for the people at Ayirebi Zongo on how to keep themselves and attend hospitals at any given time.
"This is because "we saw that most of our brothers and sisters in the area don't usually attend the hospitals for their medical checkups," he stated.

According to him, the theme he has chosen 
for the health screening was very important and was complementing of his effort to promote the health for the constituents.
Noted for providing healthcare supports for the people in the various communities within Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency, Mr Osei-Poku said quality healthcare was crucial for the development of the constituency and urged the beneficiaries to prioritise their healthcare.
He noted that for the past twenty (20) years now, with support of the health workers from his health center--CHAA/ ELIM Medical Center, he has have given comprehensive healthcare supports to the people of Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency before he even thinks to contest the parliamentary election on the ticket of the NDC in the area.

Mr Osei-Poku explained that although the exercise was targeted on the people including children at Ayirebi Zongo community because of the fasting after the Ramadan, they saw some residents from other communities also came to benefit from the exercise.
“We believe that good health is one of life’s greatest blessings.It is for this reason that we decided to kick-start our activities with a free health screening exercise,” NDC MP said.
He explained that his mission was to improve the living standards of vulnerable people in the most deprived communities across constituency if given the nod to win the parliamentary seat of the area in the 2024 general election.
He stressed that when elected the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, he would support access to quality education and healthcare, as well as the provision of basic human needs and social amenities for the poor and vulnerable.
“We must seek medical attention anytime we don’t feel comfortable or well in our health, in order to be able to move about freely and undertake our duties,” Mr Osei-Poku urged the constituents.

According to the NDC PC, one of his goals for his constituency was to bring health care right at the door step of the constituents in order to building a strong society, and promised to replicate the health screening exercise in all the electoral areas.

He stressed the need for residents to attach much priority to the food they consume, and also have enough rest after works to enable them to regain their strength for the next day’s work.
Some beneficiaries told Soireenews.com the screening had been timely due to some health challenges they were unable to access the health centres due to financial crisis.
