One person in police custody over 8 fulani murder at Zakoli

The Northern Region Police Command has arrested one Delabra for his involvement in the attack on a Fulani settlement (Zakoli) in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.

In a statement signed by the Acting Public Affairs officer of the police in the Northern Region, Supt Bernard Baba Ananga said the suspect is believed to be one of a gang of armed men who killed the eight Fulanis at the Zakoli Community.

"The suspect is alleged to have been among a gang of armed men who stormed a Fulani settlement on April 13, 2022, Murdered (8) of the inhabitants, injured 5 others, took away some livestock, and set the settlement ablaze".

According to him, the suspect has been arranged at the Yendi Circuit Court and has been remanded to reappear on May 5, 2022.

He said intelligence and operations officers from the national and regional police headquarters have been deployed to pursue and arrest the remaining culprits.
