Northern Region Records 167 Fires in First Quarter of 2022

The Northern Region has recorded 167 fires in the first quarter of 2022, according to the Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service, Assistant Divisional Officer II Hudu Baba.

According to him, the data shows an increase in the fires as compared to last year.

He revealed that intermittent power supply, faulty gadgets, and residents' negligence are the main causes of the recent fires.

He said the Regional Command has been able to educate residents on how to handle fire at its initial stage, which he believed had prevented about 50 fires in the first quarter of the year in the region.

ADOII Hudu Baba in an interview assured that the command will continue to intensify education and create awareness about the hazards of fires.

He entreated the public to repair their faulty gadgets as a measure to avoid fire outback, adding that the command will continue to sensitize the electricity company to help mitigate the problem.
