Delivering the items to the beneficiaries, the Head of District Social Welfare Department at Kwahu Afram Plains North Assembly, Mr. Vincent Kofi Appiah emphasized that the delivery of the items is a way of alleviating the challenges of the persons with disabilities.

THE KWAHU AFRAM Plains North District Assembly Social Welfare Department in the Eastern Region has supported over 33 people living with disabilities men and women to receive working tools as part of the assembly’s efforts to equip them lead self-supporting lives.

Delivering the items to the beneficiaries, the Head of District Social Welfare Department at Kwahu Afram Plains North Assembly, Mr. Vincent Kofi Appiah emphasized that the delivery of the items is a way of alleviating the challenges of the persons with disabilities.

He used the occasion to advise the beneficiaries to cultivate a habit of saving some of the profits accrued from their various business ventures, for the sustainability of the enterprises and the items received includes, Corn mill, deep freezers, refrigerator, sewing machine and cassava greater and pounding machines.

He hinted that, the donations were geared towards improving the living standards of all physically challenged persons in the District which will add up to the socio-economic growth of the country.
He cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the items, adding, the leadership and other stakeholders will embark on routine inspection and supervision of their various businesses, so therefore warned that any Applicants who sell their share of the items will not be spared.

Making the presentation at a ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE), of Kwahu Afram Plains North District Assembly Isaac Ofori Koree, revealed to the gathering that the disbursement is in line with the guidelines of the District Assemblies Common Fund in which a percentage of the total amount transferred to the Assemblies is allocated to persons with disabilities to empower them to undertake economic ventures that would sustain their lives and that of their Families and urged them to take good care of the items.

He used the occasion to commend the Social Welfare Department for the thorough work done to select the beneficiaries to ensure that the funds were disbursed to the right people.
In an interview, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the District Assembly and its stakeholders for the gesture by coming to their aid, adding that the items would be a game-changer to improve their standard of living and pledged to put the tools provided them to good use.
