Omar Sherrif Captan: "Theatre productions require improved sets"

Even though he thinks Ghanaian theatergoers' enthusiasm in the art form has increased, he feels that most of the shows lack quality sets.

"In terms of our sets, we are still far from finished. For our performances, we still need to create quality sets. Good costumes are still required, and authentic props must be brought to the set.

We should have access to the stage so we can bring authentic props to the set. On set, we bring a plethora of real-world objects, including bikes, cars, horses, and other animals.

On set, we require a great deal of reality," he said. During the press conference for Latif Abubakar's new play, "The Licence," he talked with Joy FM.

Playing in the play originally written by Italian novelist Luigi Pirandello, Omar Sherrif expressed his excitement at the task of performing in Latif's new production.

It looks at issues like absurdity, bureaucracy, and a person's fight against unjust systems.

On May 4, 5, and 6, 2024, the play—which I and the Globe Productions Limited team are adapting into an Afrocentric rendition for the first time—will be performed at the Accra International Conference Center.
