Court drops $60m corruption case against Kenya VP

The prosecution's motion to drop a 7.4 billion shilling ($60 million; £53 million) corruption case against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and nine others was granted by a Kenyan court.

The application by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was approved by magistrate Victor Wakumile, who also issued a warning to the suspects that they might be detained again if further investigation reveals evidence against them.

In its application to dismiss the case, the DPP's office cited a lack of evidence and accused police detectives of not wrapping up their inquiries.
