Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is set to leave the Premier League champions next summer.

Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium eight years ago and has 12 months left on his current contract.

It is understood City will give the Spaniard space to make a final decision on his future.

Left to the club, they want Guardiola to extend his successful tenure and sign a new deal.

Guardiola has so far won 15 major trophies, including their first Champions League.

But the club’s hierarchy fear that Guardiola’s ninth year will represent the end.

Multiple sources within the industry and City have openly discussed the prospect of the 52-year-old’s impending departure over recent months.

Meanwhile, Girona’s head coach, Miguel Ángel Michel, is believed to be in line to replace Pep Guardiola if he steps down as Manchester City’s manager.

Michel has impressed a lot of observers this season, with Girona leading the way for most of the season, before finishing third and qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Girona are also part of the City Football Group.
