Green Ghana Project: Make Tree Planting  Exercise Your Habit Dormaa West DCE Urges
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region, Mr. Francis Kwadwo Oppong lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for making efforts to ensure the effective implementation of the Green Ghana project in the country.

In an open display of his stand for the project, the DCE further commended the President for the initiative; describing it as wonderful transformational and a good legacy for future generations.

He urged the youth and corporate Ghana to leverage the Green Ghana Day to make tree planting a daily activity to fight climate change and assured that the commission has put measures in place to ensure the exercise is sustained annually.

According to him, the rate of land degradation and forest depletion in the country is very alarming, hence the national tree planting exercise that took place over the week is a very significant activity that will be of great benefit to the country but going forward it must be adopted as a daily activity to green the environment and avert any future disaster.

Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com at the Green Ghana Day activity held at the forecourt of the Dormaa District Assembly, Mr. Oppong indicated that the country is getting warmer than expected and therefore an activity such as planting of trees to stir the time of climate change is very vital and must be embraced by all

The DCE together with the District Assembly staff and the DISEC joined the District Forest Service Division to launch this year's Green Ghana Project, with a call not to make the exercise a nine-day wonder.

He advised the gathering to make tree planting their habit and cautioned the public against illegal cutting down of trees.

After the launch at the forecourt of the District Assembly, the DCE together with the team proceeded to the Nkrankwanta Senior High School and the Dormaa West District Hospital where they planted trees.

The District has about 4000 seedlings to be planted.

The Green Ghana initiative is aimed at planting over 20 million trees across the country to preserve  Ghana's forest reserves.
