Granting bail to a suspect is cost free- Bono Police reiterated

The Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Augustine Kingsley Oppong has stated emphatically that, seeking bail for an arrested person who is in Police custody does not come with a cost.

The Police PRO in a one-on-one interview on Ark in the Morning monitored by Soiree News, Thursday stated that individuals who pay monies do so at their prerogative.
He noted that granting bail to a suspected criminal does not mean a discontinuation of the person's case.

He noted that bail is a temporal release of an accused person to go and come for the continuation of the case.

The constitutional duty of the Court under Article 14(4) of the Constitution, to grant bail to the accused if he is not tried within a reasonable time, is applicable irrespective of the nature of the accusation or the severity of the punishment upon conviction.
