The Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency, Honorable Francis Asenso Boakye has called on his fellow MPs to invest in the skills and profession of their constituents through the provision of needed equipment to enable them to fend for their families and avoid being a burden to their communities.

The newly-elected MP who doubles as the Minister for Works and Housing and the former Deputy Chief of Staff says supporting inhabitants through trading gears will reduce redundancy in the country and help the economic growth of the West African country.

The 43-year old on Monday, March 15, 2021, donated 49 Hairdryers to the Ghana Progressive Hairdressers and Beauticians Association as part of his campaign promises.

He told SoireeNews in an interview that the gift to his people is a part of his duty as an MP. He addressed that being elected to lead is about service to people, thus coming out with policies to better their welfare and creating job opportunities for them to reduce social vices.

“Since I have been appointed by the people into office to serve them, it is my responsibility to serve the people and I'm very delighted for being able to come to their aid with a little” he told SoireeNews.

“If we are able to help empower personal trade, it will positively influence the economy to improve Ghanaians standard of living. We started with shoemakers last year and to the Glory of God, they are progressing and are able to feed their families after we provided 30 machines to them.

“Today’s event is to help hairdressers to be able to function effectively in the constituency and not become a burden in society. I believe if we are all helping one way or the other towards people, life would be better in the future,” he added.

Honourable Asenso Boakye advised beneficiaries to adapt “maintenance culture” and preserve the machines since it can be of great assistance to them in expanding their trade.

“My advice is that they should take care of the machines since it contributes to their future and it will also be of great use to them in the process of time. This is how development is all about and I believe others will also learn to help empower their constituents.”

The 49 beneficiaries were full of joy as they revealed appreciations towards the Member of Parliament for the kindness shown and also promised to make good use of the hair dryers.
