Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Inaugurates 2 Community Mining Schemes in the Eastern Region.

The Minister addressing the Chief and residents of this area said, the government is doing its best to protect the environment by preventing illegal mining activities which are destroying our river bodies, an approach has been created to remove the miners from the riverside, and are been provided with the automotive livelihood system to the miners. 

Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Inaugurates 2 Community Mining Schemes in the Eastern Region.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in charge of mines Honourable George Mireku Ducker has Inaugurated 2 Community mining schemes at Asonafo in the Atiwa West District as well as the one at Asaman Tamfoe in the Fanteakea South District of the Eastern Region.

The Minister addressing the Chief and residents of this area said, the government is doing its best to protect the environment by preventing illegal mining activities which are destroying our river bodies, an approach has been created to remove the miners from the riverside, and are been provided with the automotive livelihood system to the miners 

The Minister explained that the reason why the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo has initiated community mining is to help promote mining activities locally to benefit most of the youth with an interest in mine.

The Government also has provided mercury-free machinery to the community miners which will help the miners not to pollute and destroy the water bodies. 

Honorable Mireku Ducker added that Ghanaians are now practicing proper mining with the introduction of community mining, and some of the African countries such as South Africa, Sudan, Liberia, and Zambian are now in Ghana to learn this proper mining scheme from us. 

The Chief of Ekyereso, Nana Ayebiahwe also commend the Asonafo community for how they have protected their land till now. 

Nana said, Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin don't hate mining but rather like proper mining systems hence challenging the miners to adopt the proper mining system in the community not to pollute and destroy the water bodies in the area.

Community for some years fought and prevented their land from miners not to mine in the community but at long last, the government inaugurated community mining for the people to pave way for miners to do proper mining.
