Cape Coast North NDC In Disarray! As Horace Ekow Ewusi Wins Cape Coast North NPP PC Primaries

THE FORMER Central Regional Vice Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi, has been elected by the delegates as the new Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for Cape Coast North Constituency on the ticket of the NPP in the Central Region.
The winning of Mr Ewusi, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of Patrons for the Cape Coast North, according to information available to Soireenews.com has put the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency in a serious trouble.
The NDC, which is the most dominant in the constituency, soireenews.com gathered is on verge of losing that dominance, following affection for Mr Ewusi.
This show of affection came to light on Saturday December 2, 2023, immediately when the Electoral Commission (CE) has declared Mr Ewusi the winner of the Cape Coast North Constituency Parliamentary candidate in just NPP orphan constituencies election.
The young Ghanaian business tycoon has secured 348 out of the total 601vakid votes ahead of Mr Lawerence Ampiah, his main rival, who received 230 votes while former MP, Barbara Aisha Ayisi who secured 24 votes.
Prior to the election, Mr Ewusi who doubles the Chairman of the Council of Patrons for the Cape Coast North expressed optimism about his chances of winning the primaries and emphasized the significance of the NPP regaining the Cope Coast North seat with him in office.
He claimed that the NPP’s success in the constituency depended on fielding a formidable parliamentary candidate.
The seat is currently occupied by Kwamena Mintah Nyarku of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who defeated NPP’s Barbara Asher Ayisi in the 2020 polls with a vote difference of 1330.
Whereas Kwamena Mintah Nyarku polled 22,972 votes representing 50.63% of the then Deputy Minister for Education in charge of basic schools, Barbara Asher Ayisi polled 21,642 votes, 47.70%
Mr Ewusi has promised to take back the seat for the NPP in the 2024 polls if given the nod.
“Very soon, NPP will open nominations for parliamentary primaries and I am seriously considering picking forms to contest because I feel as an MP there is a lot I can do to help Cape Coast North constituency,” he declared.
He outlined his vision of enhancing developmental projects in the constituency by lobbying for more projects and providing opportunities for the youth to engage in skills training.
The former Regional Executive expressed disappointment in most Members of Parliament (MPs) who solely depend on the MP’s common fund before embarking on projects to benefit constituents.
“If you are a Member of Parliament and making excuses of waiting for MP’s Common Fund before you can develop your constituency, then you are not fit for purpose,” he observed.
According to him, the office of MP creates opportunities for one to lobby, whether within the country or outside, to ameliorate the plight of constituents.
“The MP must go and lobby whether you will lobby in Ghana or abroad. Wherever you are going to lobby, you lobby to upgrade the welfare of your people,” he stressed.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday went to the polls to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general election in constituencies where the party has no members of parliament (MP), also referred to as orphan constituencies.
The elections took place in 111 constituencies across the 16 regions with a total of 321 aspirants vying for the single slot in the constituencies where the elections were held.
The delegates for the elections were polling station and constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, Council of Elders, Council of patrons, founder members [if any] and MPs [if any].
Greater Accra
The Greater Accra Region had 52 aspirants contesting in 17 constituencies which was the highest in the elections.
They were Okaikwei North, Klottey Korle, Ablekuma Central, Ablekuma South, Odododiodioo, Ayawaso East, Ayawaso North, Domeabra Obom, Adentan Madina, Ledzokuku, Krowor, Shai Osudoku, Sege, Ningo Prampram, Kpone Katamanso and Ashaiman.
