Dr Fred Adomako Boateng, the Bono East Regional Director of Health further stated that Techiman South Municipal, Nkoranza South, Kintampo North and the Pru East District amounts to 81% of the active cases in the Bono East region.

Bono East Regional Minister, Honourable Kwasi Adu Gyan has revealed that the region's Coordinating Council will be treating the Covid-19 Pandemic as a security threat.

This according to the Minister has become very necessary after it was reported by the Ghana Health Service that, the Bono East region, as well as the Volta region, are hotspot zones for the new Delta variant.

Hon Adu Gyan said they have already gotten the blessings of the Traditional leaders to involve all the various security institutions in the region in the fight against Covid-19.

"We and Nananom have agreed to treat the Covid-19 as a security threat, the police, military and all the security agents will be involved in this fight".

Addressing the Media, Hon Adu Gyan said all mass gatherings henceforth must strictly follow all safety protocols as labelled by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his addresses to the nation.

He further disclosed that persons who flaunt the protocols will be prosecuted including the failure of wearing a nose mask.

Meanwhile, the Bono East Regional Director of Health, Dr Fred Adomako Boateng revealed that Techiman South Municipal, Nkoranza South District and the Kintampo North District are leading in the positive cases of infections.

Dr Adomako said the region recorded a total of 1,801 active cases which is very alarming considering how fast the infection is spreading in the region.

He disclosed that, as of March 2020 to 31st December 2020, they were 788 Covid-19 active cases in the region but the number has increased with rapid speed which has made it necessary for the Regional Coordinating Council to treat the virus as a security threat.

Techiman South Municipality has recorded 292 active cases, Nkoranza South has 252 cases, Kintampo North has recorded 182 cases, Pru East had 93 cases, Atebubu-Amantin has a total of 58 cases, Kintampo South has 42 cases, Pru East has 34, Sene West has 28, Techiman North has 18 cases, Nkoranza North has 17, while Sene East is yet to record an active case of the Coronavirus.
