Sunyani West Municipal NHIA manager Ohene–Djan Benjamin has disclosed that there has been a massive increase in mobile renewal in the first quarter of 2021 as compared to the first quarter of 2020.

He disclosed in the first quarter of 2020, mobile renewal was 11, 079 as compared to the first quarter of 2021 which was 13,915.

Ohene-Djan further touched on the use of Ghana card to access healthcare.

The National Health Insurance Scheme membership introduced the mobile renewal service that allows members to refresh their membership without much hassle. The policy was piloted on *842*10# and was opened in Asuogyaman and West Mamprusi districts but was later successfully deployed in all districts across the country.

The Mobile Renewal Service takes away the time-wasting periods and other inconveniences at NHIS District Offices when going for renewals.
