Abesim attempted ritual: suspect remanded two weeks into prison custody, case adjourned to June 16  

The Sunyani Magistrate Court ‘B’ on June 2, 2021, remanded into Prison custody Benjamin Adjei, 23, for allegedly attempting to use his nephew Listowel Adjei 13 for money ritual at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region to reappear before the court on June 16, 2021.

The Police prosecuting officer, Seargent. Eric Agyenim Boateng told the court presided over by His Lordship Joojo Hagan that his outfit is done with investigations and have sent the docket to the Auditor-General for advice.

Speaking to Soiree news, Detective Seargent Benjamin Lartey who investigated the case explained that the defense lawyer prayed the court to grant bail to the suspect but the prosecuting officer pleaded against the request indicating that the victim’s (Listowel Adjei) life could be in danger should the suspect be released since they live in the same neighborhood.

His Lordship Joojo Hagan however granted the request of the Police and adjourned the case to June 16, 2021. Meanwhile, some family members of the suspect were in court to witness the proceedings. It will be recalled that the Police on May 15, 2021, arrested Benjamin Adjei for an alleged attempt to use his nephew Listowel Adjei for money rituals upon a tipoff from a citizen informant after it laid ambush on the Abesim-Tanoso barrier.
