A canoe rider has drowned in River Afram, in the Afram Plains South in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

According to the Eastern Regional Police Command, led by DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the victim reportedly drowned on late Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Amedzope community portion of the Afram river in Afram Plains South District, but all efforts to retrieve him since then has proven futile, even though the police and the NADMO are working assiduously to find him.

Vincent Agbenyo, a co -journalist, and an eyewitness told this reporter, that "he went on the river with four others to feed their fish in their cages, but suddenly drowned.

He added that "others made their possible best to rescue him but they failed and since then he has not been found”

Efforts are however underway to retrieve the victim drowned from beneath the Afram River, according to the Eastern Regional Police Command.
